“L’essere collassati in un mondo temporaneamente pandemico impone di necessità l’attivazione di modelli, strategie e operazioni di contenimento, respingimento ed eradicamento della virulenza zoonosica. In questa fase è naturale e opportuno lo sforzo immediato per un ‘design dell’emergenza’ volto a mitigare e contrastare i rischi per la salute pubblica e per l’economia mondiale. Una prospettiva assolutamente vitale e, tuttavia, anche non sufficiente. In fasi di incertezza radicale va evocata -credo- anche una prospettiva più aperta e non solo ricostruttiva o riabilitativa o riadattiva dell’esistente e della nuova normalità. Questa fase di perturbazione del mondo deve poter innescare anche una fase di sperimentazione del mondo. Perché abiteremo un orizzonte planetario in morfosi continua a partire dalle nuove complessità innescate tra biosfera e tecnosfera. Insieme con cautela e coraggio, dovremo allora cercare di affiancare al ‘disegno dell’emergenziale’ (progettualità che tende ad operare per far fronte ad un imprevisto) il ‘disegno dell’emergente’ (progettualità che mira a costruire le condizioni per l’emersione del nuovo). From design for ’emergency’ to design for ’emergence’ (Accoto 2020)

“Being collapsed in a temporarily pandemic world necessitates the activation of models, strategies, and operations of containment, dismemberment and eradicament of zoonotic virulence. At this stage, the immediate effort for an ’emergency design’ aimed at mitigating and contrasting risks to public health and global economy is natural and appropriate. An absolutely vital and yet not sufficient perspective. Because in a time of radical uncertainty, a more open (and not only re-constructive or re-habilitative or re-adaptive) construction of the next real or the so-called new normal must be evoked, I guess. A time of perturbation of the world must also trigger a time of experimentation in the world. In fact, we will inhabit a planetary horizon in continuous morphosis starting from the new complexities between the biosphere and the technosphere. So, with caution and courage, we will then have to combine an ’emergency design’ (a practice that tends to cope with an unexpected event) with an ’emergence design’ (a practice that aims to build the conditions for the emersion of the new).
