“Tecnicamente, direi che un NFT o non-fungible token è un assemblaggio contrattuale di natura computazionale. Disegnato, standardizzato ed eseguito attraverso eventi, indirizzi, metodi, funzioni, protocolli e metadati istanzia quella che definirei, più filosoficamente, ‘un’astrazione digitale valorizzante’ (per/su diritti, privilegi, proprietà, unicità, scarsità e così via). Dunque, nuove forme sociotecniche di quella che chiamo ‘assettizzazione del codice’ software -evocata nel caso dalle meccaniche e dalle operazioni di standardizzazione di ERC-721 (tra risorse, interfacce, librerie, primitive crittografiche e altro)- si vengono sperimentando. Nei criptosistemi e nei criptomercati che definisco ‘postbizantini’ (e nell’arte ‘postbizantina’ che ne viene emergendo con i recenti casi di criptoarte), questa nuova creazione, conservazione e circolazione di oggetti-valori digitali infungibili rappresenta una forma di programmabilità del mondo anche speculativamente sfidante. “Technically, I would say that an NFT or non-fungible token is a computational contractual assembly. Designed, standardized and executed through events, addresses, methods, functions, protocols and metadata, an NFT instantiates what I would call, more philosophically, a ‘digital abstraction’ of value (for/about rights, privileges, ownership, uniqueness, scarcity and so on). Thus, new socio-technical forms of what I call software ‘code assetization’ – evoked in this case by the engineering mechanics and standardization operations of ERC-721 (between resources, interfaces, libraries, cryptographic primitives and more)- are being experimented.
